Hard in the Paint Stripes #WhoWhatWearxTarget

IMG_E1955We live in the wonderful world of “Like Me,” where everyone is obsessed with likes, follows, subscriptions, and building a brand.

I have to admit social media culture makes it easy to lose focus and get lost in the shuffle. If you are not careful, you can find yourself discouraged after comparing your work and progress to someone else’s, checking analytics, or reading negative comments. It may feel like your hard work is being ignored.

*Insert Colossians 3:23 here.*

“Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.”

This verse is my gentle reminder that although I create content in faith to IMG_1972reach the masses for Christ, I work in faith to please an audience of one:

Jesus Christ himself.

It’s the equivalent of being a kid again.

Think back to your days of elementary school art class. No matter how ‘abstract’ the outcome, you couldn’t wait for your teacher to hang it up. You definitely couldn’t wait to take it home so your parent or guardian could proudly display it on the refrigerator door…or wherever they stored the rest of your ‘abstract’ pieces.

Why?

IMG_1980 (1)Because you went hard in the paint!

You didn’t care about the opinion of your overly critical classmates. You put your heart and soul into your work to please a limited audience.

Keep that same energy as an adult! Dealing with a difficult boss or co-worker? Feeling your ministry service is going unnoticed? Feeling like your family or friends are underwhelmed or unenthused with your efforts to do well in school? Feeling your efforts to serve your spouse or children are unappreciated?

Continue to go hard in the paint!

No matter what you do, work as though no one else but God is watching.

He is the only one with real power to evaluate your work and give you a “Well Done.”

It’s the only feedback that matters in the end.
