“He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross. In this way, he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities. He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross.”
Colossians
2:14-15
There are so many ways to approach the topic of Jesus’ Resurrection. However, I woke up this morning in sheer awe of the fact that Jesus won.
Let me explain.
Jesus did not just die. The fight did not stop when he “breathed his last” and “gave up the ghost.” Jesus rose. He got up and took off his grave-clothes because he no longer needed them. His resurrection disarmed and defeated the powers of sin and death. Most importantly, He disarmed and defeated Satan for all eternity.
This means:
Jesus disarmed the power of addiction.
He disarmed the power of sickness and disease.
He disarmed the power of poverty.
He disarmed the power of strongholds.
He disarmed the power of depression and fear.
He disarmed the power that seeks to destroy families.
He disarmed the power that tries to distract you from following God and fulfilling your purpose.
Jesus disarmed and defeated any and everything that tries to keep us in bondage.
Since Jesus won, it was only right that Jesus would take the winner’s seat at the right hand of God the Father. He reigns as head of every power and authority. At the name of Jesus, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess his Lordship over all things.
Since Jesus disarmed these spiritual rulers and authorities by nailing them to the cross, choosing to follow Jesus means his victory is your victory. The fight will forever be fixed. No weapon formed against you will ever prosper because you are on the winning team.
If you have not chosen to follow Jesus it is never too late to do so. God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that everyone who believes in him would not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16 NLT).
Make the decision to follow Jesus today. Tomorrow could be too late.
“God, I know that I am a sinner. I know that I deserve the consequences of my sin. However, I am trusting in Jesus Christ as my Savior. I believe that His death and resurrection provided for my forgiveness. I trust in Jesus and Jesus alone as my personal Lord and Savior. Thank you, Lord, for saving me and forgiving me! Amen!”
